CalmSpace is set on our 7 acre, family run smallholding in the heart of the beautiful Buchan Countryside.  We have a menagerie of pets including chickens, geese, sheep and pigs, many of which provide and supply us with delicious, fresh, free-range produce.  

Our home has provided such a safe, nurturing and comforting space for us and our family and I always wanted to share it with others, but the answer to ‘how’ was not apparent until the birth of our Daughter.

 

The years have provided more pieces to the puzzle behind Calmspace.  I completed my Psychology degree in 2007 and worked and studied within the social care sector, supporting mental health service users.  2010/2011 gave the opportunity for a career break embarking on travelling solo around Morocco and India where I experienced a fulfilling, fun and healing journey while learning much about different cultures and practices.  I returned to Aberdeen to settle within a Supervisory position in the Oil Industry, where during this time I met my wonderful husband in 2015.

I have always had an interest in Holistic Practice and its benefits, attending a variety of classes over the years including Yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Gong and Meditation Through movement.  Then in 2019 the birth of our daughter brought a change to my journey and perspective and one sleep deprived night I made the decision to embark on incorporating my professional career knowledge with our love of our beautiful natural space and so began a very organic process of building CalmSpace.  A huge thank you to my husband and family who have supported my ideas and have helped me with the practical elements of the business.

2019 was the year of thinking and planning, the yurt was built in 2020 and then, as with all of us the Covid pandemic brought us to an abrupt halt.

Today, CalmSpace is providing our guests with an EcoExperience.
